Maulana Azad College Ranchi, is the only Muslim religious and linguistic minority college in the state capital of Jharkhand. It was founded in 15th August, 1971 by HMES of Anjuman Islamia, Ranchi in the memory of the great freedom fighter and Bharat Ratan, the first Education Minister of India Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. It is affiliated to Ranchi University in fact college is running in the historical monument designed and constructed under the supervision of non other than one of the illustrious son of mother India, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad himself. College is situated in the heart of Ranchi town. The location of the college is really a suitable and fascinating one. The college has recently purchased 5 additional land at Banapiri, Ratu in Ranchi district near Central University Ranchi and in near future college will be shifted there whereas existing college building will be working as usual as town extension study center for the benefit of the students. A girls hostel is also under construction in Maulana Azad Colony at Kantatoli Chowk Ranchi. The society exercises its responsibility over Maulana Azad College, Ranchi through a Governing Body.
